Positioning yourself as an expert is one of the most important things you must do for your business. People want to learn from experts and people want to buy from experts. So if you’re not an expert yet or you’re just starting out in an industry or niche, how do you position yourself as an expert. and fast? I’m going to give you 3 steps to do exactly that.
There is this other notion that if you get a publisher or an agent or a deal or a contract that your work is done. You don’t have to sell your writing, there’s someone else to do it for you. You can sit back and live the dream that is ‘the writer.’ And, sure there are one or two or three writers out there who have achieved this level. The majority have not. Again it’s the too many writers for the same piece of pie scenario, only this time the pie is the audience.
Here’s where it gets tough, and where a writer is needed to create the ultimatum: not obliterating rule #1 with rule #2. Your website writer should be able to convey the message to your visitor and keep the Google search phrase in there still. You want it readable, not keyword stuffed. That’s where the website writer can save you time and hassle. They know just how to create this balance and do it successfully.
Mailing Out Unsolicited book s and Manuscripts: In submitting books to publishers, usually a query letter is sufficient. Nothing is worse than getting stacks of unsolicited manuscripts in the mail without return postage. The same is true with books for reviewers, especially when accompanied by a letter that says, “Thanks for requesting my book” when the book wasn’t requested. Furthermore, as the author, you’re wasting money. Most unsolicited books end up never being read and instead are donated to a library or Goodwill store, while the manuscripts end up in the circular file, and you’ll be lucky to receive back a formal rejection letter.

With the advent of the Internet, and “Kindle” or “nook”, or Apple’s I-pod, or any laptop computer, any book can now be read.without ever being printed.
The real problem with the “instant expert” track is that you know that you are not an expert. That makes it very hard for you to convince other people that you are, unless you are a very good liar.

Your Course: Compile your new book around a course you have taught for years. You already love the subject matter. Take your existing lessons and even lesson plans and form them into a book. If you are a stronger speaker than writer, consider taping your lesson presentations and getting them transcribed. Then hire a ghostwriter to take the transcriptions and develop into a book. I encourage you to not just take the transcript and copy into book form. But charge the writer or yourself to write it into a book using conversational language.
